When you’re in Iloilo and you wanted to try some local
food and there's nothing more local than La Paz Batchoy. Seriously, I haven't
tried eating batchoy in Manila but for the sake of 'experience', I tried one in
our Iloilo trip. Read here about our Iloilo trip.
Batchoy according to Wikipedia is a noodle soup
made with pork organs, crushed pork cracklings, shrimp, vegetables, chicken
stock, chicken breast, beef loin and round noodles.
The lady from Ong-bun
Pension House, where we stayed for the night, suggested that we try Ted's La
Paz Batchoy which is located just near SM Delgado. It is the one on Valeria St., Iloilo City, just 3-5 minutes walk from Ong-bun. Their branch there was nice and clean, and their staffs where friendly to tourists like us who had lots of questions on what menu would be good to try. I’m not really fond of noodles so I was shocked to see my
emptied bowl of batchoy. What a great evening meal that was before dozing off
in preparation for the next day’s adventure.
Batchoy! A must in Iloilo!
